About Us

The dream started about 15 years ago when a friend in Barrie built the first outdoor arenas of their kind. Jim was hooked on the idea. "Ballhockey.com has been a tremendous in helping us to get our business started in Centre Wellington," says Jim. "We built on their knowledge and expertise and created what worked for our area." Many people remember playing ball hockey in the street as a kid, yelling "car" and coming in when the street lights came on. "We're capturing the essence of what street hockey is all about but stepping it up quite a few notches with a professional outdoor arena, complete with a sport tile floor and lights for evening games. Games are reffed and scores recorded weekly on our website at www.cwballhockey.ca so teams can keep track of their progress in the league," says Jackie.

Four seasons, each consisting of 12 weeks of outdoor play start with Spring in early March to the end of May, Summer – May to August, Fall – September to November and Winter – December to February. Youth leagues start at age 4 and go to age 17. NEW for Spring 2013 will be "Learn to Play" skills and shinny programs for older kids and girls leagues for Atom to Peewee age groups in addition to the regular mixed programs from Novice to Young Adults and the popular "Introduction Skills and Shinny" for 4-5 year olds. Adult leagues (18 and up) will include Men's A/B, C/D and 35+, Women's Recreational and Competitive and Co-Ed. "I get the biggest thrill seeing people trying the sport for the first time and being hooked," explains Jackie, "I'm one of those people along with the many other women who braved their first try at the sport last Spring. Those women keep coming back and loving it!"

"We are happy to offer multi-season and family discounts for the 2013 season. Our aim is to constantly improve and offer club members an affordable game for the whole family. The rink is available to rent for birthday parties, get-togethers and team dry-land training," explains Jim. "We were able to get a lot of minor hockey teams off to a good start with a space to practice skills and bond with the team. Our facility features a large clubhouse and indoor and outdoor eating areas as well as a BBQ. We even had two get togethers on New Year's Eve!"

Corporate sponsorship opportunities are available through team jersey sponsorship and rink board and website advertising. You can register online or at the clubhouse. Hope to see you playing outside this year!
